It all began with BigBlue's epic "You Make the Card!" event on MiseTings, where a gag card was developed step by step with forum polls. The voted-for premise was Duct Tape -- a card that prevents your opponent from doing anything. When it came time to choose the art, I whipped up the following two submissions:
